Not present was Molly Kahn.
Esther Nachimson passed out the minutes for the September meeting which were also posted on the the UH website. They were accepted as written.
Don Jensen passed out the treasurer’s report and stated that all our bills were paid.
Don McGee motion was made to accept the treasurer’s report. Martin Kahn seconded the motion. The Motion passed. Don suggested the board increase the amount of money for common involvement with other homeowners associations. This was taken under advisement. Don, also, passed out a suggested budget for next year and said a meeting should be scheduled to fine tune the proposal. No date was set.
Arnold asked everyone to attend the UHAOH annual meeting at The Las Colinas Country Club on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:00 P. M. He invited the board to attend a photo op at the home of Pat and Don McGee who are the recipients of the Yard of the Month Award for October.
Arnold Martin, Jim Wells, and Charles Schmidt attended the quarterly Neighborhood Association meeting at the Irving City Hall. The major topic related to code violations. Many families place their trash at curbside before 6:30 P.M. the night before pickup. Brush piles and tree limbs clutter neighborhoods for weeks. Homeowners are responsible to call city hall and get the date the brush trucks are scheduled to come to their neighborhood and to do trimming and pruning the day before. Brush pickup is one time a month for each area. Recycling is an issue. We need someone on the board to take a leadership role to initiate this in UH.
Arnold praised Teresa, the new code enforcement officer. Last year, she reported more than 75,000 citations and 22,000 phone calls.
Charles Schmidt, our Irving City Council liaison, reported on the progress of the completion of the underpass. The entry signage is nearing completion. The landscape design is to start soon along with the replacement of sidewalk segments that are out of alignment.
City Councilman, Joe Philipp answered questions regarding the sewer collapse of the line along Riverside Drive, North of Walnut Hill. The solution involves bringing in equipment for Houston and will probably cost over $100,000 to correct. The line is very old and more of it may need replacing.
Craig announced that his committee was assembling packets for distribution at his home at 7: P.M. Seven homeowners were signed up to help. The annual UHAOH meeting announcement will be sent in a separate mailing. Craig suggested that we put signs out in specific areas to remind our homeowners of the place and time of the meeting.
It has long been understood that the chain link fence along Rochelle at the country club would be replaced by a wrought iron fence when the golf course was rebuilt. The money was supposed to be in their budget. Word has it that this change will not be done at all. As there were no representatives from TLCA at our meeting, Don McGee made a motion to write a letter to Scot Southern to revisit this decision. Don Jensen seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Nell Ann Hunt is looking for a lot of volunteers for our Festival of Lights extravaganza on Monday, November 29 at 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Scott Glover will do the technical work—he is planning to add a new feature to the already spectacular display.
Nell Ann stated that we will not have the candy canes in all of the neighborhoods this year. They are going to consentrate them around Pea Patch Lake.
The manger scene has openings for the part of the baby Jesus. Esther Nachimson quickly volunteered her new grandson, Greyson from The Woodlands. We will need ,at least, one more baby. Please call Nell Ann with suggestions.
She sadly announced the Crust, the camel, has passed away, but they have a new one to take his place. The cost for the live animal display will be $525.00.
Hot Chocolate and Cookies will be served. The Farine Children’s Choir will perform along with the Irving Boys Choir. It was decided not to invite the Irving Girls Choir as it was too large to fit in the space north of Pea Patch Lake.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 7:30 A.M at the Las Colinas Country Club Grill.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Esther Nachimson, Secretary
