UNIVERSITY HILLS ASSOCIATION OF HOMEOWNERS

MINUTES

TUESDAY, November 6. 2001

The meeting, at the Las Colinas Country Club was called to order by president, Arnold Martin at 7:44 A. M.  Board members present were: John Taylor, Don McGee, James Spriggs, Don Jensen, Esther Nachimson, Jim Wilson and TLCA representative, Scott Wilson, Nell Anne Hunt. Mary Oberlin, a block captain chief, attended the meeting. Not present was Frank Murphy.

The minutes of the last meeting were passed out and also posted on our web site.  A motion was made to approve the minutes by John Taylor and seconded by James Spriggs.  The motion passed unanimously.

Don Jensen, treasurer, distributed his report and filed the report with the secretary.  We have total assets of $6,386.37; 207 paid members with 75 new members. We now have an association credit card we needed to pay for our web site.  It will be necessary to switch the account John Taylor had been paying for the site.

John Taylor reported that the block captains were having success contacting our members.  Some of the block captains had problems contacting some of their neighbors.  It will take time.

Jim Wilson said that there had only been 16 hits on our web site.

Don McGee, head of the nominating committee, said that we were not in compliance with the by-laws.  The bylaws state that the members can elect to 12 members for the board.  The vice-president is the president-elect.  Pat Andres has agreed to be the historian for the UHAHO. The present members were elected for 2 year terms.  The Immediate past president (not presidents) serves on a standing advisory committee.

Scott Wilson of the TLCA reported that sediment had gotten in Pea Patch Lake from the storm sewers. Sidewalk repairs have been held up to be sure that all the trip hazards were repaired.  The lights have been changed to halogen lights in the in Rochelle park.  New Trees were planted in UH.  The association has asked the city to repair the broken curbs again.  The previous repairs were not satisfactory because concrete can’t really be repaired.  The curbs and sidewalks need to be replaced.

Arnold Martin commended Scott Wilson for addressing our problem of sub-standard property.

The problem of brackish swimming pools is a health issue and the health department should be called.

The question of a stop light at Rochelle and Hidalgo for the safety of UH residents will be studied.  The city is planning to put a counter at the intersection to see if one would be necessary.

The plan for Christmas decorations will be addressed next year as we were unable to find a vendor to mass purchase lights for this year.

The annual will be a week from this date on November 9, 2001.

This next board meeting will be Tuesday, December 4.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 A. M.

Respectfully submitted,

Esther Nachimson, Secretary
