BOARD MEETING

MAY 7, 2002

 

The meeting started at 7:45.  A quorum was not present.

 

Board members present were Don Jensen, Nell Anne Hunt, Arnold Martin, Esther Nachimson, and Don Jensen.  Not present were: John Taylor, Don McGee, Frank Murphy, Charles Schmidt, Scott Wilson, James Spriggs, and Jim Wilson.

 

Don Jensen presented a treasurer’s report and Esther Nachimson presented the minutes, but a quorum was not present so they were not approved. 

 

No motions were made for approval of the financial report.  No motions were made for approval of the minutes.

 

There was a discussion and critique about the successful Cinco de Mayo party on May 4.  Approximately 200 residents attended.  Thirty four non-members were given application forms.

 

Suggestions for improvement were: 

1.      More electrical plugs were needed with added circuit breakers.  Don McGee and the TLCA should be notified for suggestions of solving this problem.

2.      Start the  party an hour later

3.      Move the party back, one week, into April.

4.      Port-a-pottys should be acquired.

5.      The mosquito problem needs to be addressed.

 

Thirty-four people came for the planting of flowers at Pea Patch Lake on Saturday, April 27.  A Boy Scout doing community work placed 1/6 mile markers throughout University Hills green area for residents to gauge how far they walk.

 

The city said the lights at Rochelle and Northgate Drive needed to be not

flashing.  After one week they were back to flashing. The grade separation is expected to begin before the year is out.

 

Nell Anne Hunt reported that 50 people showed up at kick-off party for the flag planting for July 4 on June 30.  Planting will be done in 15 neighborhoods throughout the city.

 

The next meeting will be the second Tuesday in June on the 11th.
