The Treasurers report was passed out and read by all present. As of 6/1/2006 UHAOH has 275 paid members and assets totaling $25,443.94. Most bills from the Spring Fling were in. The minutes were accepted with corrections.
Nell Anne reported that the Great Flag Caper’s plans are complete. Flags are to be picked up on June 30th and everyone will convene at her home on Hidalgo for the annual pot luck party on July 3rd at 7:00 P.M. An essay contest for children has also been planned. Valley Ranch is planning a special recognition for our fallen patriot of the Martinez family in Iraq. Nell Anne thanked the board for our $1,500 contribution to the GFC.
Jim Wells has changed our web page from Yahoo to Outlook Express methodology. All members will be offered the option to unsubscribe from the website.
Charles announced that the City Of Irving is mandating a reduced water usage program beginning June 15. Odd addresses can water on Monday and Thursday; even addresses can water on Tuesday and Saturday before 7 A.M and after 7 P.M.
Stiff fines of, up to, $2,000 will be in place for those who violate.
These restrictions will be permanent until rescended by the city.
Rick Bidne added that the Cooper reservoir is operating at 50% capacity and that city water employees are being deputized to issue tickets for violation. He reminded the board that DCURD water, not city water is used for many areas in Las Colinas.
If we receive no rain, the Stage 3 watering plan will go into effect which means homeowners will be mandated to water only 1 time per week.
The sale of the Webber property abutting Las Colinas is progressing. A group has been formed to monitor the process.
The buyer for Farina’s at Northgate and Rochelle property has withdrawn his offer.
Sidewalk repair has been put on hold until cooler weather. It is too hot and dry and sidewalks cannot cure properly.
Bob Kitzman has replaced Linda Korkmas as Block Captain Chief. Bob announced that John De Marco will be the new deputy chief for Area C. Gractia Austin and John contacted all the BC’s for our flag planting. Bob feels there are new things the BC’s should be able to help with and the best and fastest way to communicate with our homeowners is electronically.
Diane Everett and Gracia Austin continue as deputy Chiefs for sections B and A respectively.
Rick Bidne spoke about the amount of vandalism (i.e. toilet papering and egging in University Hills.) Everyone needs to keep an eye out for aberrant activity as this problem is not expected to get better. Report any concerns to TLC# 972-541-1312. They are planning a mailing within the week to alert all of our homeowners.
Pat Andres stated that there are issues with tree trimmers. The city reduced the number of times brush was being picked up to one time per month. There are Las Colinas code rules and James Sanders at the above telephone number should be called for the brush to be hauled off. Martin said that we should put pressure on the city to restore pickup to two times per month.
Rick Bidne of TLCA introduced Paul Frederiksen to the board.
Rick stated the importance for all property owners to return their proxies to his office to ensure the approval of the exciting development going on in the Urban Center. The changes will protect and secure the land usage and broadening mixed usage. A 50% response is needed for a quorum; 60% to pass. Rick asked for our help to encourage the return of the proxies.
Martin Kahn motioned that the UHAOH board urge our homeowners to be sure to return their proxies and to vote for TLCA proposals to go forward. Don Jensen seconded the motion. The motion passed.
The board and guests were invited to our YOM for a photo opportunity. The Yard of the Month recipients were Kenneth and Patsy Lee of 3705 Santiago.
Arnold Martin announced the next board meeting will be in the President’s Lounge at the Las Colinas Country Club at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 10. Those who would like to eat are asked to come early and order their food so the meeting can start promptly.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:17 P.M.
Respectfully submitted
Esther Nachimson,
UHAOH Secretary
