UNIVERSITY HILLS ASSOCIATION OF HOMEOWNERS

BOARD MEETING MINUTES

JUNE 7, 2005

The board meeting was called to order by president Arnold Martin at 7:44 A.M.

Board members present were: Arnold Martin, Don Jensen, Esther Nachimson, Charles Schmidt, Jim Wells, Paul Oldham and Don McGee.  Board members not present were: Martin Kahn, Molly Kahn, Nell Anne Hunt, Robin Filbeck, Mary Oberlin,Craig Bowman and Christine Katib.

The minutes of the May meeting were accepted with corrections.

Treasurer, Don Jensen, passed out the treasurers report.  The Spring Fling cost was $3,605.25.  Monies from some of the underwriters are still outstanding.  To date, there are 291 paid up homeowners.  Assets total $20,810.02.

Jim Wells is working on a new directory and needs the deputy chiefs to get the block captains to contact their people for updated information.   We would like to get advertisers to buy space in the directory to offset some of the printing costs.

Charles reported that those who are interested in Xeriscaping should attend the meetings with a consultant tomorrow night and Thursday at the Art Center from 6-8:00 P.M.  Xeriscaping is gardening with plants and grasses that thrive in Texas with a minimum of water and fertilizer.

Pea Patch Lake is looking better.  Jim Wells is maintaining contact with TLCA. Lights are being added around Pea Patch Lake along with benches and more ground cover.  Sidewalks are also being repaired.

Some people have asked why TLCA is watering during the day and at off times.  They are not using city water.  TLCA has its own water source.

TLCA expects to see the construction of our entry signs delayed. The chain link fence on Rochelle will not be addressed until they replace the photenia on the golf course and start on the cart path.  The leaning brick columns on Northgate and the golf course are country club fundable items.  Although several columns have been straightened, there are still several more to do.

TLCA is concentrating on sidewalk replacement this summer.  Please give feedback to Scott.  They will be spraying with orange paint to indicate damaged walkways.

Verizon is starting the installation of their fiber optic lines in University Hills.  All homes have had door hangers notifying owners.  Questions can be answered by calling the sources listed on the door hangers.

The home of Ralph and Joy Ellis at 3819 Cabeza de Vaca  selected for Yard of the Month for June.  There was a photo opportunity immediately following the business meeting at 9:15 A.M.

Flags for the Great Flag Caper can be picked up at Nell Ann Hunt’s home on July 1 after 6:00 A.M.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, July 12, 2005.  The club will be closed the first Tuesday of July.  We will meet in the grill at 7:30 A.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Esther Nachimson, Secretary
