Attending Arnold Martin, Charles
Schimidt, Martin Kahn, Nell Ann Hunt,
Paul Oldham, Don McGee
Paul Oldham gave " Spring Fling wrap-up " report . ( one invoice to " Lucky Dog
"
still needs to be paid and Don needs to invoice TLCA for Petting Zoo )
Don McGee reported on U H nite @ L C Polo . About 30 of our residents
attended and all reported a terriffic evening. An invitation to the
Championship Finals has been extended for July 13 and a " follow-up " for a
more complete U H attendance is being pursued by Rick Lindsey, event
coordinator, and Robin Filbeck & her Deputy Chiefs & Block Captains .
Nell Ann gave a report of the " July 4th Flag Plantings" She's received about
$4700 from donors & participants toward her personal outlay of $6000. She
still has a few hundred flags for " stragglers". She wants to "get the word out
"
for people to pick up the flags by Monday July 7. They can either store the
picked up flags themselves to use next year, OR bring them ( bundled ) to
Scott Glover 3114 E Cortez for storage. Nell Ann is pleased at the continued
enthusiasm for the program and says the placement throughout Irving
continues to grow. Arnold will attempt to persuade Harriett Blake, Irving News
Editor ,to put these pick-up instructions in Sunday's Morning News.
Charles Schmidt gave a Public Works/ Public Affairs report. The RR underpass
@ Northgate & Rochelle continues ahead of schedule. Latest Irving City
Spectrum suggests " Spring of 2004 " ! Resurfacing of Northgate will probably
await the underpass completion. Some asphalt overlay may occur on
other streets. Charles reported there will be 20 plus State Constitution
Amendments that will be voted on and there MAY be a City Charter
election also.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is scheduled for August 5. Irving PD and Community Affairs
are urging all neighborhood associations to place a MAJOR emphasis on
this activity. Jim Underwood and Robin Filbeck will be asked to coordinate.
This precipitated a discussion on how we could get MORE of our neighbors
to participate by joining in more activities AND by submitting their " voluntary
"
$50 annual dues. ( the Board agreed a reasonable goal of 75% should be
sought ) Suggestion was made to supply each Title Company with
U H Membership application brochures to give new residents @ closings.
Zoning case # 5356 was discussed. Everyone is encouraged to " thank " the
City Council members individually for supporting our objections and to urge
them AND the Planning & Zoning Commission to protect " collector streets "
such as Northgate, Santa Clara and Rochelle from " carport blight " .
Next regularly scheduled Board meeting is August 5 @ 7:30 am.
Meeting adjourned @ 9 am..
