BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 05, 2002
The meeting was called to
order at 7:35 by president, Arnold Martin
Board members present were
Esther Nachimson, John Taylor, Don McGee, Don Jensen, Charles Schmidt, Martin
Kahn, Mollie Kahn, Nell Anne Hunt.
Scott Wilson from TLCA and Mary Oberlin were also present. Not present were: Frank Murphy, James Spriggs, and Jim Wilson.
Minutes of the last meeting
were postponed until the next meeting on March 5, 2002.
The Treasurer, Don Jensen,
passed out the financial report to date.
Total Assets of UHAOH are $4,972.59.
The assets are low and have been impacted because collecting dues from
our homeowners is down. A report has
been filed.
116 members who paid dues in
2001 have not paid their dues for this year.
104 members have paid their dues.
The list of homeowners is hard to keep up to date because of
communication between us and TLCA. A
letter will go out on February 8, with the new brochure about the association.
John Taylor stated that the
newsletter will not be mailed before the end of February. Articles of interest to our homeowners are
badly needed to fill up the space.
Scott Wilson from TLCA reported that some projects have been put on hold because of the economy. There are still sections of sidewalks in need of replacement and walks to connect the two parks. Walk lights are needed at Rochelle and Northgate. They have started to paint the hydrants and TXU boxes in UH. TLCA will start installing a centralized irrigation system that will help in the conservation of water.
UHOAH is
submitting a grant application for $4,000.00 to the City of Irving. This is due
on February 15, for a neighborhood project to support beautification by
planting shrubs and perennials. TLCA
has agreed to supply planning expertise.
TLCA will also submit a separate request for Rochelle Park and Old
Rochelle Park to be planted with wildflowers and a perennial bed at Pea Patch
Lake.
Our
“Spring Fling” is just around the corner.
Molly Kahn has agreed to chair this committee. A date has been set for Saturday, May 4th and it will
tentatively be a Cinco de Mayo theme.
Volunteers are needed for this affair.
Martin
Kahn made a motion to apply for a grant of $2,000.00 for Holiday Season
Decoration and Lighting at Pea Patch Lake and decorations on street light
poles. Molly Kahn, seconded the
motion. The motion passed. Next year we will work on an effort to
encourage homeowners to put up more lights and decorations for our neighborhood. Charles Schmidt and Esther Nachimson were
asked to work with TLCA for this project.
TLCA is
asking homeowners with crossties in their landscaping to replace them with
permanent material such as concrete blocks or bricks. The crossties are rotting, falling down and are, also, a great
source of termites.
The next
meeting will be March 5, 2002 at the Las Colinas Country Club at 7:30 A. M.
Respectively
submitted,
Esther
Nachimson, Secretary
