UNIVERSITY HILLS’ NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK

WHAT IS THE NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK?

The University Hills’ Neighborhood Network is a chain of contacts so information can be distributed to the neighborhood or disseminated within the neighborhood.  Also it will be used to ensure new residents are welcomed and will promote neighbor to neighbor interaction.

q Each house is assigned to a block (average number of houses in a block is 10)

q Each block is assigned to a Block Captain (44 blocks)

q Each Block Captain reports to a Deputy Chief responsible for a sub-area (3 sub-areas)

q The three Deputy Chiefs report to a Block Chief that is on the Neighborhood Board

HOW WILL THE NEIGHBORHOD NETWORK BE USED?

The Neighborhood Network will be used as a two-way flow of information.  Communications can go up the chain or down the chain.  For example:

Someone breaks into your garage and steals your tools.  After you call the police and Las Colinas Security you can call your block       captain.  The block captain will get the information out to the others on the block and to the sub area deputy chief.  The deputy chief will contact the other block captains in the sub area and those block captains will contact the houses in their blocks.  The deputy chief will also contact the Block Chief who will contact the other two sub area Deputy Chiefs who will contact their block captains who will then contact their houses.

This way all 450 houses in University Hills will know of the break in and can be on the look out for suspicious persons.  The same could be done for a lost pet or a warning of a dangerous animal.  The Network will also be used to distribute neighborhood newsletters and other information from the Neighborhood Board.
