THE BEACON, MARCH 2008
YOUR PRESENCE REQUESTED, MEETING TONIGHT
The City of Irving recently acquired a 5.4 acre tract of land located at the southeast corner of Northgate and Rochelle as a neighborhood park. The City is going to partner with The Las Colinas Association on the future development and maintainence of the park. The Las Colinas Association has committed to funding the first phase of development during 2008. The City is beginning the process of developing a master plan for the park to include all phases of development.
The Phase I plans tentatively include a concrete walking trail, barrier safety fencing around parts of the park, landscaping and turf irrigation. You are invited to attend a community meeting to share thoughts and ideas that will help shape this new park development. A potential list of neighborhood park amenities for the master plan include playground, swings, picnic shelter facilities, concrete walking trail, drinking fountains, shade structures, shade and ornamental trees, ornamental plants, turf landscaping with irrigation, benches, area and security lighting.
The community meeting will be held at the Irving Civic Center Complex, first floor conference room, located at 825 W. Irving Blvd. Time is Tuesday, March 4, 2008, beginning at 7 p.m. The master planning for the park is expected to be completed in June and Phase I development is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2008.
