> Preparation for the UHAOH annual meeting is underway.  It is planned for
> Tuesday, November 8 at 7:00 P.M.  There will be a grief report on the upcoming
> City of Irving charter election.
> Every University Hills resident is encouraged to attend to meet neighbors.  This
> is a good opportunity to see how we can become involved in our community.
>
> Of concern to our association is the proposed rezoning for the property in the
> southeast section of Rochelle and Northgate from R-10 to R-3.  Known as Fairway
> Vista, this project would cram 45 units (garages opening on Rochelle).  This
> undesirable location (right on the railroad tracks separated only by a wooden
> fence) could eventually become undesirable rental property.  It is the hope and
> purpose of UHAOH to get the developer to work closely with TLCA, the city and
> our homeowners to come to an equitable agreement and comply with our covenants
> and standards.  Specific concerns relate to: 1. the water runoff from the creek
> from the lake behind the homes on Rochelle that are not seen from the road.  2.
> The planned use of stucco for the outside of the homes. 3. The pipelines that is
> underground, running through this property.  We are hoping the City of Irving
> will make not decisions without input from us.  A committee is already working
> on this concern.
>
> Preparation of an updated UHAOH directory has become a slow process.  Many of
> our homeowners have not returned their information to Jim Wells in a timely
> manner, slowing the process.  A handful of homeowners have indicated they do not
> want their names included in the directory for various reasons; of course, their
> wishes are honored.  Nell Anne Hunt reported she is accepting advertisements for
> the directory. Anyone who would like to promote their business contact her as
> early as possible.
>
>  Planning for our Holiday Festival of Lights is well into the planning stage and
> everything is coming together.  Anyone who would like to sponsor a lighted tree
> for the display please contact Nell Anne.  The cost is $100 and is a good way to
> honor you friends and neighbors.  More information will be e-mailed and
> notification by postcards to those who do not have an e-mail address.
>
> City liaison chairman, Charles Schmidt, reports that there are two upcoming
> events for those interested in community development.  Tonight, at 7:30, Rene
> Castilla, dean of students at Northlake Community College, will speak to one of
> a series of subjects of interest to Irving citizens at the City Hall.   On
> November 3, 4, and 5 a workshop on city planning will be held at the First
> Baptist Church.  This will be quite a comprehensive event and anyone interested
> is encouraged to attend.
>
> Charles reminded us Blue Bag Fridays for Recycling are on the 2nd and 4th
> Fridays of each month until January 1st and then it will be weekly.  He stated
> the effort to increase the number of households participating in the City of
> Irving's recycling program is heating up.  The city is furnishing signs that
> will be put out on the Wednesdays before our pickup in UH on early Friday
> mornings to remind us to place our blue bags on the curb (as early as 6:00 P.M.
> Thursday.)  Volunteers of UHAOH are placing these signs is strategic spots.  Our
> block captains will be placing the door hangers on our doors.
>
> Mugshots, at Rochelle and MacArthur,  is hosting a monthly venue for area
> recycling chairpersons to come together and share what's happening with this
> important effort.  It will be October 14 at 11:30 A.M. anyone who is interested
> and has some ideas to share is cordially invited to join this praiseworthy
> group.
>
> We are staying on top of the effort to get the country club to remove the
> unsightly chain link fence along Rochelle.  Rick Bidne stated that there were no
> funds in TLCA coffers available to help.
> This is an unsightly blight on the entrance to University Hill.
>
> The next homeowners meeting will be Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Las Colinas
> Country Club in the Grill at 7:30 A.M. All residents of University Hills are
> invited to attend.
>
> Respectfully submitted,
>
>
> Esther Nachimson, Secretary.
